Suzanne Fox

Suzanne Fox
President & Founder

In 2015, Suzanne Fox will be celebrating her 30th anniversary of working with China. In 1985, she was among the first wave of American students studying abroad in Beijing. Since then, Suzanne has worked at the Council on Educational Exchange (CIEE) coordinating their East Asia study programs, and taught East Asian history at De Anza College in California and cross-cultural communications at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. While living and working in China, Suzanne held teaching positions at Fudan University (Shanghai) and the Northern Transportation University (Beijing). Suzanne holds a Master’s Degree in Chinese Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, a B.A. in Chinese Area Studies from Bowdoin College, and studied Mandarin at Beijing Normal University. In 2010, Suzanne was awarded a NEXT Award for her pioneering work in building Maine-China ties.

Julie Zhou (Zhou Li)

Director of China Programs

Julie Zhou directs our China educational programming. After two years living in Maine and teaching at Waynflete School, Julie is uniquely suited to work with New England and Chinese schools, students and families. She has first-hand experience of New England winters, culture shock and the stark difference between American and Chinese teaching styles and approaches. Julie earned a B.A. from Beijing Technology and Business University and an M.A. in International Education from Beijing Normal University.

Lily Jing (Jing Xiaojun)
Director of Sichuan Programs

Lily Jing (Jing Xiaojun) was born and raised in Mianyang in China’s Sichuan Province. She has an educational background in economics and management from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics and focused on marketing management for more than 20 years. Lily spent 12 years working in electronics and communications in Shenzhen where she developed strong marketing, communication and collaborative skills. She also has a degree in psychology and has studied Neuro Linguistic Programming. In her work in the educational consulting services, Lily is able to bring a strong understanding of people and psychology and is able to see the potential in each student. She brings great patience and professionalism to her work.

Megan Theberge
Director of Short-Term Programs

Megan Theberge spent a year in China teaching English to students of all ages; from kindergarten students to professionals and business owners, as well as preparing students to study in America through TOEFL and SAT preparation. With a degree in International Relations from the University of Southern Maine and an ESL teaching certification from the Intensive English Institute of the University of Maine, Megan brings a knowledge of cultural sensitivity, diversity, and international relations to her work. 

 

Sunny Shi (Shi Xueyan)
Program Associate

In 1995, Sunny Shi was selected by his high school to be one of three exchange students to participate in a year-long exchange program in North Carolina in the United States. This changed his life path and lead him to becoming a professional in the field of international educational exchange. Since graduating from college, he has taken on a number of roles in the field spanning counseling, marketing and project development and has been a member of senior management teams. His roles have encompassed being the project manager at Kaplan education group, the national product and marketing manager for CIEE China, marketing director for Dipont Education and Program director for New Pathway Education.

Nga-Chi Lai

Nga-Chi Lai
Program Associate

Nga-Chi Lai grew up in Saco, Maine, and has lived and worked in both the United States and China. After receiving her B.A. in East Asian Studies with a minor in Chinese Language and Culture from Boston University, Nga-Chi moved to Beijing where she earned a Masters degree in International Finance from the University of International Business and Economics. Nga-Chi is currently based in New York.

Paul Zhang

Paul Zhang
Business Consultant

Paul Zhang works with us on our business and professional programs. His extensive knowledge of Chinese business culture is invaluable to our clients as they begin expanding their operations into China. Paul was born and raised in Beijing, China, and is a natural innovator and entrepreneur. When the door to the West began to open in the early 1980’s Paul got his foot right in. With a natural flair for spotting business opportunities, Paul was one of the first Chinese nationals to work with foreign companies. He successfully managed China operations for many European and American companies including whole supplier-chain management for The Mad Bomber Company; setting up and incorporating Blue Ridge Numberics; market studies and marketing plan initiation for Irion Investment; and conducting market research and distribution studies for Wyman’s of Maine. Paul holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Canadian Institute of Business and Technology School of Business and a B.A. from the Beijing Foreign Language Institute.
