Programs for Students and Parents

Pre-departure student and parent orientation programs (in China): Fox Intercultural Consulting Services staff in Beijing will offer an intensive pre-departure program for students and parents on student expectations, classroom norms, parent concerns, etc. The purpose of this full day program is to prepare students and their families for the differences they will encounter while living overseas for the first time

Chinese Parent Programs and Outreach: Fox Intercultural Consulting Services will work closely with the parents to develop deeper relationships and connections with the resources and opportunities beyond the campus community. This relationship building component is critical for the overall success of the student’s experience. Connecting the parents to the community, as well as the state in general will give the parents a more meaningful experience which will lead to deeper alumni ties.

Community Mentor Program Living so far from home for the first time can be isolating and difficult for many of these young high school students. The community mentor program is specifically designed to help in the overall adjustment of the visiting student. Each student is matched with a college student from China who she or he can call for advice or support throughout their stay. In addition to the access to college mentors, participants have access to China related activities statewide.
